Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Introduction and Purpose
Man with Van Tooting is committed to conducting all aspects of its business ethically, transparently, and with integrity. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps we take to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all staff, workers, contractors, and any third parties acting on our behalf.
Modern slavery is a serious crime and a fundamental violation of human rights. It includes slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking. Man with Van Tooting is firmly opposed to all forms of modern slavery and will not tolerate any such practices within its business or supply chains.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
We operate a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. This means we will not knowingly engage with or support any business, individual, or organisation involved in such practices. Any confirmed instance of modern slavery related to our business will be treated as a critical breach of our standards and may result in termination of contracts or working relationships, alongside reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate.
All staff and contractors are expected to act honestly and ethically in all business dealings, to uphold human rights, and to flag any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery at the earliest opportunity.
Our Operations and Supply Chains
Man with Van Tooting provides removal and transport services, operating primarily within the local and regional area. Our supply chains include vehicle hire and maintenance, fuel and equipment suppliers, uniforms and workwear providers, and occasional use of subcontracted labour and logistics partners.
We recognise that certain parts of the transport and logistics sector and some associated supply chains may present a higher risk of labour exploitation. We are committed to understanding these risks and taking reasonable and proportionate steps to address them.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to comply with our standards on ethical conduct and human rights. As part of our approach to preventing modern slavery, we undertake the following measures:
We assess new suppliers for ethical risks, including labour practices, before entering into contracts. We communicate our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery and require suppliers, where relevant, to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour and human rights laws. We reserve the right to review and, where appropriate, audit suppliers that present a higher risk profile, focusing on working conditions, recruitment practices, use of subcontracted or agency labour, and wage and working time records.
Where non-compliance or serious concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. If issues are not resolved, or if any instance of modern slavery is confirmed, we will consider suspending or terminating the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Man with Van Tooting encourages all staff, workers, contractors, and suppliers to speak up if they see, suspect, or are affected by any form of modern slavery or human trafficking in connection with our business.
Concerns can be raised with a line manager, senior member of the business, or other designated contact within Man with Van Tooting. Reports can be made confidentially, and we will take all concerns seriously. No one who raises a concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up.
All reports will be assessed promptly. Where appropriate, we will investigate, take corrective action, and, if necessary, notify the relevant authorities.
Training and Awareness
We aim to build awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management. Training and guidance may cover recognising signs of labour exploitation, understanding reporting channels, and applying our ethical standards in day-to-day decision-making.
Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least once every year by the leadership of Man with Van Tooting. The review will consider any incidents reported, the effectiveness of our controls and audits, changes in our operations or supply chains, and developments in best practice and legal requirements.
Where improvements are identified, we will update our policies, procedures, and training to strengthen our approach. Our goal is to continually improve our systems so that the risk of modern slavery in our business and supply chains is minimised as far as is reasonably practicable.
This statement reflects the commitment of Man with Van Tooting to acting ethically and responsibly and to safeguarding the dignity and rights of all individuals who contribute to our services.
